My parents are the best hosts.

A few years ago, they moved into a beautiful mountain house that is tucked into the Rocky Mountains and up the road from Black Hawk. Black Hawk is one of the least populated cities in Colorado and yet they entertain thousands of people every night as one of only three towns with a casino permit. My parents’ home is the perfect balance of morning coffee by the fireplace, with an afternoon hike around a glacial lake, and some roulette and craft cocktails once the sun goes down.

My parents love inviting family and friends to stay for the weekend and enjoy all of the mountain activities together. From the perfectly curated sheets, to a meal that was planned out a week before your arrival, my mom and dad spend so much time and thought on every element of hosting to ensure guests feel taken care of.

I created a visual identity to highlight the experience they’ve created. I wanted to develop visuals that feel envoke a sense of curated comfort and quiet luxury while also having some elements of unexpected playfulness.

Weavy Exploration

Because this is a personal project, I also thought it was the perfect opportunity to experiment with different AI platforms.

I wanted to incorporate photography of the “suites” so the brand could feel authentic. I worked in Weavy to develop original images that feature materials, textures, and lighting which align to the brand.

The primary mark for Donna’s Suite takes inspiration from art deco motifs found often on Catalina Island — a place that holds fond memories to all who knew Donna.

The palette needed to feel warm and earthy with secondary colors that added an unexpected element. The names are inspired by Donna’s favorite places and things.
