Project Role: Packaging Graphic Designer
LifeProof was looking to center their brand values closer towards sustainability, specifically protecting our waters from plastic pollution. This shift in priorities called for a redesign of all packaging. The previous box utilized a large plastic window to showcase product features and thick paperboard as well as substantial extra space for protection. We were asked to deliver similar attributes but by using solely paper.
My role as a supporting designer was to conceptualize design language for the brand — resulting in organic design elements that reflect LifeProof’s goals. Our team produced a package that uses less paper fiber, cleaner printing (more valuable as a recyclable package), and entirely mono-material. This meant that a consumer could peek into the package without the unnecessary shell of plastic, and encouraged them to give the paper a second life after unboxing. With the package reflecting the values of the product within, this was a seamless pairing.
